Before touching save files
Close ReStory completely. Copy the entire Restory folder somewhere safe before moving or replacing any file. If the save matters to you, keep a second copy on another drive.
Player-tested rollback
A player who accidentally started a new game reported restoring a Day 66 save using older files stored locally.
- 01
Close the game.
- 02
Open %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Mandragora\Restory.
- 03
Copy the current SaveData and Backupsavedata folders to a safe location.
- 04
Choose an older backup from Backupsavedata.
- 05
Copy that backup into SaveData, preserving your safety copy.
- 06
Start the game and verify the day and progress before making further changes.
If Steam Cloud restores the wrong save
In a separate softlock report, an initial rollback failed because Steam Cloud restored the newer save during launch. After the cloud conflict was identified, the player confirmed the rollback worked. Steam’s interface and sync behavior can change, so review the sync prompt carefully and do not delete either local copy.
Quest item stuck behind the lamp
The rollback method was also reported as a way out of a softlock where a repaired quest item became stuck behind the lamp. That report confirms the recovery outcome, not a universal fix for every progression bug.
